Pop superstar Katy Perry played her sixth and final Sydney show at Allphones Arena last night to another sell-out crowd, breaking the venue’s ticket sales record and longest run of shows for a solo artist.
Ticket sales for Katy Perry’s six Allphones Arena shows totalled 89,500 breaking the current record of 81,542 held by One Direction since October 2013.
Promoter of the tour in Australia, Paul Dainty said “What a great way to end the year promoting the biggest pop star in the world and her incredible live show! We are all knocked out that Katy Perry has broken the house record at Allphones Arena Sydney. Australia is per capita her biggest market and this has been the biggest concert tour of the year in Australia”
To celebrate the milestone and knowing that Katy Perry is a keen cyclist, Allphones Arena presented Katy Perry with a custom made Avanti Inc 2 road bike. The bike design draws inspiration from specific elements of the Prismatic World Tour, as well as, some of the artist’s earlier work. Perry was also presented with a bronze star that will be a permanent fixture outside the main entrance to Allphones Arena to forever commemorate her achievement.
Allphones Arena General Manager, Guy Ngata, said “To have Katy Perry break the venue’s ticket sales record a little over twelve months after it was awarded to One Direction is a fantastic result. The Prismatic World Tour is one of the largest and most technical productions Allphones Arena has ever seen, so it’s only fitting that it is also a record breaker. Fan feedback about the Sydney concerts has been absolutely overwhelming. Thank you to Katy Perry, the Dainty Group and everyone involved with this record breaking tour and for delivering a flawless show night after night”
